L’insegnamento permette agli studenti di acquisire
conoscenze relative alle dinamiche competitive delle
imprese e al funzionamento dei settori industriali. Gli
studenti acquisiranno conoscenze su teorie
dell'impresa, strutture competitive, barriere
all'ingresso, fallimenti di mercato, esternalità,
economia dell'innovazione e del cambiamento
tecnologico, politiche industriali e della concorrenza. I
The course allows students to acquire knowledge
relating to the competitive dynamics of companies
and the functioning of industrial sectors. Students will
acquire knowledge on the theories of the firm,
competitive structures, entry barriers, market failures,
externalities, economics of innovation and
technological change, industrial and competition
policies. The concepts will be presented from the
double point of view of the companies that compete
on the markets and of the policy makers who
supervise and regulate the competition.
The student should be able to understand the
heterogeneity of existing industrial structures and the
consequences of this heterogeneity on the profits
and competitive dynamics of companies and, more
generally, on collective well-being.
The execution of a group work will lead to the drafting
of a report and a presentation. This activity will help
to improve the degree of autonomy of judgment in
general, the ability to communicate and work in a
group, the ability to learn independently, the ability to
synthesize and organize analyzes and results

The assessment of students' learning level is done through a written test.
In order to pass the learning assessment successfully, the student must demonstrate, through the aforementioned tests, an understanding of the concepts presented in the course. Additionally, they must show the ability to solve problems related to the subjects covered in the course.
Each question and exercise is assigned a score that is a function of the difficulty and complexity of the response. The total sum of points assigned to the questions and exercises is thirty. Each response will be awarded a score ranging from 0 to the maximum indicated. The allocation of points will be based on the following criteria: a) completeness and accuracy of the response; b) logical development of the arguments; c) use of appropriate terminology. The result obtained in the written test may be increased based on the score achieved in any projects.
The final grade is the result of the sum of the scores from the written test and the points obtained from any projects. In order for the overall outcome of the assessment to be positive, the student must achieve at least a passing grade, equivalent to eighteen points, in the combination of the two tests. The maximum grade is attained by demonstrating a thorough understanding of the course content in both tests. The highest distinction is reserved for students who, having completed all tasks correctly and comprehensively, exhibit exceptional clarity in oral presentation and written expression during the written test.
