Knowledge of the basic topics of analysis, of linear algebra, structural mechanics and physics.
Lezioni di teoria: 48 ore
Theory lessons: 48 hours
The course aim is to give students basic and full understanding about energy harvesting systems. In detail, the acquired knowledge and methods will endow the student to develop devices at the base of more complex systems. A major teaching goal is to augment the engineering design skills of students. By facing compelling issues, the students will grow a reviewer attitude in order to identify smart solutions energetically efficient. Scientific consciousness and new methodologies will serve as a whole to study a wide range of engineering problems.
Thanks to the course, the student will acquire mastery of energy harvesting devices. He/she will make use of reduce order models to design towards the optimal device characteristics for the benefit of the harvesting performances.
The course will teach how to design structures for energy harvesting. The student will face multi-physics coupling effects that plays an important role in the structures, e.g. electromagnetics, mechanics. The student will strength his/her applied design skills. Moreover, the student will be encouraged to autonomously comment and review on the base of the full device understanding and of its specifics.

- aver ben compreso i concetti esposti nel corso;
- saper elaborare tali concetti applicandoli alla risoluzioni di problemi semplici nell'ambito della raccolta energetica;
- essere capace di interpretare i fenomeni caratteristici che governano la risposta di sistemi dinamici;
lode è riservata agli studenti particolarmente brillanti.
The learning evaluation will be done through an interview (oral examination) which will involve all the
topics discussed during the lectures, aimed at
checking the application of the general theory.
To get a positive evaluation, the candidate must:
- show that he/she understood the topics developed in the lectures;
- be able to elaborate the previous concepts in order to solve simple
problems regarding the engineering of harvesting;
- be able to understand the phenomena that govern the response of dynamical systems;
- be able to determine the methodology for the analysis of archetypal harvesters.
A thirty-points scale is used for grading, with possible praise.
The minimum (18/30) is for students that show at least the understanding of basic concepts. The mark will increase accordingly to the student knowledge and his/her ability to elaborate these concepts, up to the maximum score (30/30) which is obtained with full knowledge of all topics. The "laude" is obtained showing special cleverness
