Il corso si propone di presentare la morfologia dei denti e la struttura dei tessuti che compongono la corona e la radice dentale, le conoscenze riguardanti gli aspetti normali e patologici dei tessuti duri e molli del cavo orale, le conoscenze di base dei materiali dentari in termini chimici, fisici e biologici. Obiettivo del corso sarà di fornire allo studente le competenze teoriche necessarie alla prevenzione della carie dentale e di altre lesioni non cariose della corona dentale, le conoscenze di base del processo diagnostico-terapeutico delle lesioni cariose e non cariose, le basi eziopatogenetiche e l’evoluzione clinica delle prevalenti patologie delle mucose orali, i componenti costituenti i singoli materiali dentari, il loro impiego in odontoiatria.
Capacità di applicare conoscenze e comprensione.
Applicando le conoscenze acquisite alla fine del Corso, lo studente dovrà essere in grado di orientarsi rapidamente nella scelta dei materiali e biomateriali tra il numero enorme di prodotti e tecnologie disponibili in campo odontoiatrico al fine di scegliere i materiali più performanti nell’utilizzo clinico; differenziare tra gli aspetti normali e quelli patologici dei tessuti duri e molli del cavo orale, ponendo; saper applicare le metodiche di prevenzione delle patologie cariose e non cariose della corona dentale, ponendo attenzione al ruolo dell’igienista dentale nel team odontoiatrico
Competenze trasversali.
L'autonomia di giudizio viene sviluppata incentivando la formulazione di ipotesi e giudizi personali per risolvere problemi analitici posti durante la didattica frontale. Allo stesso modo l’attenzione posta alla proprietà di linguaggio ed al rigore terminologico favorirà lo sviluppo delle capacità comunicative. Le capacità di apprendimento vengono sviluppate favorendo attività di riflessione ed elaborazione di tematiche affrontate nello svolgimento del corso ed alla valutazione critica della letteratura scientifica specifica anche attraverso autonoma ricerca sulle principali banche dati elettroniche.
Knowledge and Understanding.
The course aims to present the morphology of the teeth and the structure of the tissues that make up the crown and the dental root, the knowledge concerning the normal and pathological aspects of the hard and soft tissues of the oral cavity, the basic knowledge of dental materials in terms chemical, physical and biological. The aim of the course will be to provide the student with the theoretical skills necessary for the prevention of dental caries and other non-carious lesions of the dental crown, the basic knowledge of the diagnostic-therapeutic process of carious and non-carious lesions, the etiopathogenetic bases and evolution clinic of the prevalent pathologies of the oral mucous membranes, the constituent components of the individual dental materials, their use in dentistry.
Capacity to apply Knowledge and Understanding.
By applying the knowledge acquired at the end of the course, the student must be able to quickly orient himself in the choice of materials and biomaterials among the enormous number of products and technologies available in the dental field in order to choose the best performing materials for clinical use; differentiate between the normal and pathological aspects of the hard and soft tissues of the oral cavity, placing; know how to apply the methods of prevention of carious and non-carious pathologies of the dental crown, paying attention to the role of the dental hygienist in the dental team
Transversal Skills.
The autonomy of judgment is developed both through the formulation proper diagnostic hypotheses and personal judgments to solve the problems during the frontal lessons. The most appropriate treatment for the patient. In the same way, the attention given to language skills and proper terminology promotes the development of communication skills. Learning skills are developed through reflection on themes discussed in the course and the critical evaluation of the specific scientific literature also through independent research on the main electronic databases.

L’apprendimento sarà valutato attraverso la stesura di un compito scritto con risposte aperte sui principali argomenti trattati. Seguirà una revisione/discussione degli elaborati ed un esame orale finale. Per gli di studenti con disabilità e DSA , su richiesta dello studente, le modalità di esame potranno essere adattate alla luce di quanto previsto dalle linee guida di Ateneo.
Criteri di valutazione dell'apprendimento.
Nella prova scritta e nella prova orale lo studente dovrà dimostrare di aver acquisito le conoscenze di base sugli argomenti trattati durante il corso
Criteri di misurazione dell'apprendimento.
Il voto finale sarà attribuito in trentesimi. L’esame si intende superato quando il voto è maggiore o uguale a 18. È prevista l’assegnazione del massimo dei voti con lode (30 e lode).
Criteri di attribuzione del voto finale.
Il voto finale verrà attribuito considerando i risultati dell'elaborato scritto e dell’esame orale. Verrà dato particolare rilievo alla capacità comunicativa dello studente e alla sua capacità critica di discutere le conoscenze attuali. La lode verrà attribuita qualora lo studente dimostri piena padronanza della materia.
Learning Evaluation Methods.
Learning will be evaluated through the writing of a written task with open answers on the main topics covered. A review / discussion of the papers and a final oral exam will follow. At the student's request, the tests can be adapted in the light of University guideline provisions for all students with disabilities.
Learning Evaluation Criteria.
In the written and oral test, the student should demonstrate that he/she has acquired the basic knowledge on the lecture topics
Learning Measurement Criteria.
The final mark will be awarded in thirtieths. The exam is considered passed when the grade is greater than or equal to 18. It is expected to be awarded the highest marks with laude (30 cum laude).
Final Mark Allocation Criteria.
The final mark will be given considering the results of the written works and the oral exam. Especially, focus will be placed on the student's communication skills and on their critical ability to discuss current knowledge. The award will be given if the student demonstrates full mastery of the subject.
