PREREQUISITI PREREQUISITES

Conoscenza della lingua inglese al livello A2, il livello di base di solito raggiunto durante il percorso scolastico dopo circa 200 ore complessive di insegnamento.

A2 level of English (the basic level usually reached after 200 guided learning hours).


MODALITÀ DI SVOLGIMENTO DEL CORSO DEVELOPMENT OF THE COURSE

Il corso si svolgerà attraverso lezioni frontali, a carattere teorico e pratico. Gli studenti dovranno assistere alle lezioni in aula con tutto il materiale linguistico previsto e pronti ad interagire il più possibile con l’insegnante, sforzandosi di comunicare in lingua inglese. La frequenza, sebbene non obbligatoria, è fortemente consigliata. Le 44 ore di lezioni sono dedicate alla preparazione dell'esame di Lingua Inglese 1, mentre le 30 ore di esercitazioni sono rivolte agli studenti già al livello B1 che vogliono prepararsi all'esame B2 First della Cambridge. Chi è già in possesso di una certificazione linguistica di livello B1 può chiedere il riconoscimento dei 6 crediti di Lingua Inglese1. Chi è già in possesso di una certificazione linguistica di livello B2 o superiore può chiedere il riconoscimento di 9 o 12 crediti. Le richieste di riconoscimento possono essere presentate a partire dalla prima sessione di esami (Gennaio) dell'anno accademico in cui è previsto l'insegnamento di lingua nel proprio piano di studi. The course will be taught through both theoretical lectures and practical lessons. Students are expected to attend the lessons in the classroom, with the required materials, ready and willing to interact with the teacher, as far as possible in English. Attendance, while not compulsory, is highly recommended. The 44 hours of lessons are dedicated to the preparation of the English Language 1 exam, while the 30 hours of tutorials are for students who have already reached a B1 level of English and would like to prepare for the Cambridge B2 First exam. Those who already have a B1 level language certificate may be awarded the 6 credits for Foreign Language 1. Those who already have a B2 or higher language certificate may be awarded 9 or 12 credits. Students cannot apply for these credits before the first exam session (January) of the academic year in which Foreign Language is part of their course of study. RISULTATI DI APPRENDIMENTO ATTESI LEARNING OUTCOMES
Conoscenze e comprensione.

Al termine del corso gli studenti avranno raggiunto il livello B1. Saranno in grado di affrontare l’esame universitario di Lingua Inglese 1 e anche, volendo ottenere una certificazione internazionale, l'esame Preliminary B1 della Cambridge.


Capacità di applicare conoscenze e comprensione.

Al termine del corso gli studenti saranno in grado di comprendere brevi testi che leggono e ascoltano e sapranno anche esprimersi in inglese, scrivendo brevi email e lettere informali, e parlando di argomenti della quotidianità.


Competenze trasversali.

Le esercitazioni che avranno luogo durante il corso consentiranno agli studenti di migliorare non solo le loro competenze nelle quattro abilità linguistiche (lettura, ascolto, scrittura, parlato) ma anche le loro abilità logico-cognitive.


Knowledge and Understanding.

By the end of the course the students will have reached a B1 level of English. They will be able to take the university exam in English Language 1, and also the Cambridge Preliminary B1 exam should they wish to obtain an internationally recognized certificate.


Capacity to apply Knowledge and Understanding.

At the end of the course the students will be able to understand short texts that they read or hear, and they will be able to express themselves in English, writing short emails and informal letters, and speaking about everyday topics.


Transversal Skills.

The exercises that the students will carry out throughout the course will allow them not only to improve their competences in the four skills of language learning (reading, listening, writing, speaking), but also their cognitive and logical abilities.



PROGRAMMA PROGRAM

Il corso si focalizza sul ripasso della grammatica di base della lingua inglese con la quale gli studenti dovrebbero avere già una certa familiarità, tra cui i tempi verbali (presente, passato e futuro), e strutture come il passivo e il discorso indiretto. Inoltre, il corso mira ad espandere il vocabolario riguardo ad argomenti quotidiani come famiglia, casa, lavoro, vestiti, animali, cibo e così via. Il corso si basa sulle competenze, quindi gli studenti avranno il modo di esercitarsi tanto a leggere quanto ad ascoltare la lingua inglese. Gli verranno pure insegnati dei semplici stili di scrittura e saranno invitati a svolgere compiti scritti a casa.

The course focuses on revising the basic grammar of the English language which students should already be familiar with, including the verb tenses (present, past and future), and structures like the passive and reported speech. Moreover, the course aims at expanding students' vocabulary about everyday topics like family, home, work, hobbies, holidays, clothes, animals, food and so on. The course is skills-based so students will get a lot of practice in reading and listening to the English language. They will also be taught about simple writing styles and invited to carry out written exercises for homework.


MODALITÀ DI SVOLGIMENTO DELL'ESAME DEVELOPMENT OF THE EXAMINATION
Modalità di valutazione dell'apprendimento.

L'esame consiste in una prova orale e scritta e comprende quattro prove: lettura con risposte a scelta multipla, scrittura (cinque frasi da trasformare, breve testo, lettera o storia), ascolto con risposte a scelta multipla e di completamento, e colloquio orale con descrizione di una foto e attività collaborativa. All'inizio e al termine del corso verranno svolte delle prove d'esame, che verranno messe a disposizione anche sulla piattaforma e-learning.

Per gli di studenti con disabilità/invalidità o disturbo specifico di apprendimento (DSA), che abbiano fatto debita richiesta di supporto per affrontare lo specifico esame di profitto all’Info Point Disabilità/DSA dell’Ateneo, le modalità di esame saranno adattate alla luce di quanto previsto dalle linee guida di Ateneo (https://www.univpm.it/Entra/Accoglienza_diversamente_abili).


Criteri di valutazione dell'apprendimento.

Nel corso dell'esame gli studenti dovranno dimostrare di avere acquisto una solida conoscenza di base della lingua inglese e di aver sviluppato la capacità di usare quella conoscenza al livello comunicativo.


Criteri di misurazione dell'apprendimento.

Il voto verrà espresso in trentesimi. Lo studente supererà l'esame se otterrà almeno 18. È prevista l’assegnazione del massimo dei voti con lode (30 e lode).


Criteri di attribuzione del voto finale.

Il voto finale verrà calcolato in base ai voti assegnati alle varie prove.


Learning Evaluation Methods.

The exam will consist of both written and oral exams, with a total of four parts: reading with multiple choice questions, writing (five sentences to transform, short text, letter or story), listening with multiple choice and gap fill questions, speaking with description of a photograph and a collaborative activity. Mock exams will be done at the start and end of the course and will also be made available on the e-learning platform.

For students with disabilities or Specific Learning Disorders (SLD) who have contacted the University Disability/SLD Info Point to request support for the specific curricular exam, please note that the way the exam is taken can be adapted in accordance with the University Guidelines (https://www.univpm.it/Entra/Accoglienza_diversamente_abili).


Learning Evaluation Criteria.

The students are expected to show that they have gained a solid basic knowledge of the English language and that they are able to use that knowledge to communicate successfully.


Learning Measurement Criteria.

Positive grades: from 18 to 30. Cum laude can be bestowed to outstanding performance.


Final Mark Allocation Criteria.

The final mark will be calculated by taking into consideration the marks of all the separate papers.
