conoscenze di base dell'elettronica digitale
knowledge of the basic elements of digital electronics
lezioni di teoria: 72 ore
theory lessons: 72 h
The teaching aims at the knowledge and understanding of the problems related to the project, programming and implementation of complex electronic systems. High-level design languages such as SystemC and VHDL will be presented for rapid prototyping on FPGAs. The issues of reliability, low power, energy management and energy harvesting will be addressed, with possible applications on flexible and wearable electronics.
The student will be able to apply the methodology for the design of high-level complex electronic systems and develop prototypes using FPGA.
During the course the student will develop a comprehensive project in group or alone and he will develop a report describing in full the project. This will stimulate the ability to work in groups, and to prepare a project report.

The examination consists of a discussion of a project developed by the student and an oral exam on the course topics.
The project can also be carried out in groups, with a maximum of four students.
The topic of the project will be agreed with the teacher. The student should discuss with the teacher during the progress of the project.
During the oral test, the student will have to present and discuss the developed project and demonstrate that he / she has the knowledge and skills on the methodology and technique of electronic system design.
The teacher will evaluate the complexity, completeness and correctness of the project, the study of the state of the art on the topic, the results obtained and the clarity of the paper and the presentation of the project.
