Il corso di inglese livello avanzato presuppone una conoscenza intermedia della lingua inglese. Gli studenti a livello principiante o post-principiante potranno accedere al software “English Express” disponibile nella Mediateca CSAL della Facoltà di Ingegneria per seguire un corso in autoapprendimento per colmare le eventuali lacune nella preparazione.
In order to follow the Advanced English Language Course students should already have an intermediate knowledge of English. Beginners or False Beginners will need to use the self-study “English Express” software installed on the computers in the CSAL Self-study Centre at the Faculty of Engineering to improve their English language skills.
Esercitazioni frontali organizzate dal CSAL per gli studenti iscritti al primo anno.
Face to face classroom lessons organized by the CSAL for students in the first year of the Second Level degree course.
Gli studenti apprenderanno gli aspetti grammaticali e lessicali necessari per capire il senso globale di una tipologia testuale varia e per cogliere i nodi informativi principali di testi scritti di argomento familiare e di natura tecnica.
Capacità di applicare conoscenze e comprensione.
Gli studenti dovranno essere in grado di capire il senso globale ed i particolari essenziali di messaggi orali su una varietà di argomenti e di poter comunicare ed esprimersi oralmente.
Competenze trasversali.
Le conoscenze acquisite sono indispensabile bagaglio culturale per la comprensione dei contenuti che riguardano i linguaggi scientifici settoriali.
Knowledge and Understanding.
The students will learn the language skills that enable them to understand the general meaning of various types of written texts and to recognize the significant points in both general and scientific documents in the English language.
Capacity to apply Knowledge and Understanding.
The students must be able to understand the general meaning and specific information when listening to a variety of audio materials and must be able to express their understanding in spoken English
Transversal Skills.
These skills are essential for understanding the specific sectorial English related to science.
Esercitazioni frontali 48 ore:
Le esercitazioni frontali ampliano le principali nozioni grammaticali della lingua inglese e forniscono competenze lessicali, d’ascolto, di lettura e della lingua parlata mirate ad un livello avanzato (B2).
Gli studenti potranno approfondire le loro conoscenze utilizzando il materiale disponibile nella Mediateca CSAL e sulla piattaforma e-learning dell’Ateneo (CSAL – FCE Online – Lingua Inglese Livello B1).
F2F lessons, 48 hours:
The F2F lessons will expand the students’ knowledge of the main grammar points and will develop the students’ listening, reading and speaking skills at an advanced level (B2).
The students will also be able to improve their knowledge of the English language using the material in the CSAL Self-study Centre and available on the University e-learning platform (CSAL – FCE Online – Lingua Inglese Livello B1).
Il grado di conoscenza acquisito dagli studenti viene verificato attraverso un test su PC (di competenza CSAL) ed un esame orale (di competenza della Commissione nominata dalla Facoltà).
Criteri di valutazione dell'apprendimento.
La prova scritta (test su PC) è composta di 3 esercizi: Lettura (12 domande), Riempimento (20 domande) e Ascolto (10 domande). Le domande sono del tipo: scelta multipla, vero/falso, riempimento di spazi vuoti. Il tempo disponibile è 1 ora e 15 minuti.
La tipologia della prova orale sarà a discrezione della commissione, tuttavia potrebbe trattarsi di un breve colloquio in inglese, della lettura di un breve brano tratto da un libro di testo scientifico e la traduzione in italiano dello stesso.
Criteri di misurazione dell'apprendimento.
La misurazione dell’apprendimento viene effettuata in base alle conoscenze dimostrate dallo studente. La valutazione viene considerata positiva e sufficiente quando la conoscenza degli argomenti richiesti viene soddisfatta con almeno il 60% di risposte corrette.
Criteri di attribuzione del voto finale.
Il voto finale viene attribuito sommando alla valutazione dello scritto quella della prova orale. La lode viene attribuita quando il punteggio ottenuto dalla precedente somma superi il valore 30 e contemporaneamente lo studente abbia dimostrato piena padronanza della materia.
Learning Evaluation Methods.
The students’ knowledge will be assessed with a computer-based written test (organized by the University Language Centre – CSAL) and an oral exam with the board of examiners nominated by the Faculty.
Learning Evaluation Criteria.
The computer-based written test consists of 3 exercises: Reading (12 questions), Cloze Test (20 questions) and Listening (10 questions). The questions are: multiple choice, true/false, gap fill. The set time is 1hr and 15 minutes.
The focus of the oral exam is decided by the board of examiners. It could be a short conversation in English, a short reading comprehension of a passage taken from a scientific textbook or the translation of a scientific passage from English to Italian.
Learning Measurement Criteria.
Assessment is based on the student’s knowledge of the subject. The minimum score required to pass the exam is 60%.
Final Mark Allocation Criteria.
The final score is calculated by adding together the score for the computer-based test and the oral examination. Honours (“cum laude”) will be given when the final calculated score is greater than 30/30 and the student has proved to be fully competent in the subject.
