The course aims to provide students with knowledge regarding the normal and pathological aspects of the hard and soft tissues of the head and neck area, the most frequent pathologies, the etiopathogenetic bases, the clinical evolution and treatment of the prevalent head and neck pathologies.
By applying the knowledge acquired at the end of the course, the student must be able to differentiate between the normal and pathological aspects of the hard and soft tissues of the cephalic area, to know and set up a correct diagnostic and therapeutic process of the prevalent pathologies of the head and neck area.
The autonomy of judgment is developed by encouraging the formulation of hypotheses and personal judgments to solve analytical problems posed during frontal teaching. Similarly, the attention paid to the property of language and terminological rigor will favor the development of communication skills. Learning skills are developed by encouraging reflection and elaboration of issues addressed in the course.

The final exam consists of an oral test, during which the student will be asked to answer questions on topics that are part of the course program.
During the oral exam, in addition to the correctness of the answers, the language properties and terminological precision used by the student will also be evaluated. In addition, attention will also be paid to the exposure of pathologies according to the characteristic chronology of the systematic pathology (definition, epidemiology, etiopathogenesis, clinic, diagnosis, therapy and prognosis).
The final grade is awarded out of thirty. The exam is passed when the grade is greater than or equal to 18. It is expected to award the highest marks cum laude.
Each of the topics covered by the exam will contribute to the attribution of the final grade. If the student has correctly answered all the questions by examining the topics under examination and demonstrating full mastery of the subject, thus achieving a grade of 30, laud will be attributed to the student who has demonstrated maximum clarity in the exposition, full mastery of the topics and maximum completeness in the answers.
