MODALITÀ DI SVOLGIMENTO DEL CORSO DEVELOPMENT OF THE COURSE

Le lezioni verranno effettuate con il sussidio di materiale didattico distribuito durante le lezioni stesse che, assieme ai testi di riferimento, formeranno oggetto della prova di esame.
Durante il semestre, saranno previste ore di esercitazione, in preparazione della prova di esame.

The topic of the course are International Standards of Professional Conducts and Global Performance Presentation Standards.
Lessons will be taught using material that will be distributed during the same lessons. This material, together with the reference texts, will be the objective of the final exam.
During the semester, there will be mock-exam tests, preparing students to the multiple-choice format of the exam.


RISULTATI DI APPRENDIMENTO ATTESI LEARNING OUTCOMES
Conoscenze e comprensione.

L’obiettivo del corso è quello di fornire agli studenti il complesso dei principi deontologici e degli standard internazionali ritenuti best practices nel settore finanziario a livello globale, così come enunciati nel “Code of Ethics and Standard of Professional Conduct” elaborato da CFA Institute.


Capacità di applicare conoscenze e comprensione.

Gli studenti sapranno analizzare e valutare le problematiche di tipo deontologico legate alla creazione ed all’offerta di prodotti e servizi finanziari, con l’ottica della protezione del risparmio al fine del corretto funzionamento dei mercati dei capitali, per la creazione di benefici e supportare la crescita delle attività legate all’economia reale.


Competenze trasversali.

L’analisi di casi pratici per la corretta applicazione dei principi deontologici, fornirà agli studenti la descrizione dei contesti tipici delle attività svolte dagli operatori all’interno del settore finanziario, con collegamenti alle tecniche relative alla strutturazione di prodotti e servizi finanziari apprese all’interno del programma del Corso di Studio.


Knowledge and Understanding.

The objective of the course is to offer students the complete review of ethical and International standards that represent best practices in the financial sector globally, as defined by the CFA Institute “Code of Ethics and Standard of Professional Conduct”.


Capacity to apply Knowledge and Understanding.

Students will be able to analyse and evaluate ethical issues connected with the offer of financial product and services, with the aim of protecting the integrity of financial markets for the ultimate benefit of the society.


Transversal Skills.

The analysis of practical cases for the right application of ethical and professional standards will offer students the description of typical financial markets activities and operations, with references to technics related to financial product creation and management, described by other courses included in the post-graduate course (Msc, “Financial Analyst”).



PROGRAMMA PROGRAM

1.Contenuti.
Deontologia professionale nel settore finanziario. Le motivazioni per un'auto-disciplina e l'importanza di comportamenti corretti per garantire la fiducia dei risparmiatori nel settore finanziario.
Il Codice deontologico di CFA Institute, lo "Standard of Professional Conduct" e lo "Standard of Practice Handbook": i principi deontologici e i macro-ambiti di applicazione.
"Professionalità" degli operatori del settore finanziario: conoscenza della normativa, indipendenza e obiettività di giudizio, corretta rappresentazione delle fattispecie, condotta scorretta. Casi pratici.
"Integrità dei mercati dei capitali": l'utilizzo dell'informazione privilegiata e l'insider trading, la manipolazione dei mercati finaziari. Casi pratici.
La relazione ed i doveri degli investitori professionali verso i clienti. Prudenza, trasparenza, adeguatezza. Casi pratici.
La relazione ed i doveri degli investitori professionali verso gli "employer": lealtà degli impiegati verso le società per cui operano, responsabilità di supervisori e dirigenti. Analisi degli investimenti: ragionevolezza e oggettività di giudizio, coerenza con i profili della clientela. Casi pratici.
La relazione ed i doveri con gli "employer" (aziende e/o clienti): gestione dei conflitti di interessi, priorità nelle transazioni finanziarie. Casi pratici.
Standard internazionali di presentazione delle performance degli investimenti (“Global Investments Performance Standard”: i principi relativi all’uniformità degli standard per il confronto degli operatori a livello internazionale.
2.Esercitazioni
Le esercitazioni, svolte durante il corso, presenteranno lo stesso formato (testo delle domande in inglese e risposta a scelta multipla) e durata delle prove di esame, al fine di preparare gli studenti alla modalità di svolgimento dell’esame stesso

Content.
Ethics and Professional Standards in the financial sector. Reasons for self-discipline and appropriate behaviors, to ensure investors’ confidence in the financial sector.
CFA Institute “Code of Ethics”, "Standard of Professional Conduct" and "Standard of Practice Handbook": ethical principles and macro-areas of application.
"Professionalism" in the financial sector: knowledge of the law, independence and objectivity, fair representation, misconduct behaviors. Practical cases.
"Financial Markets Integrity": material non-public information, inside information and insider trading, financial markets manipulation. Practical cases.
Relationship and duties of professional investors towards their customers. Prudence, transparency, adequate basis for recommendations. Practical cases
Relationship and duties of professional investors towards their employers: employee loyalty to the company they work for, responsibilities of supervisors and managers. Investment Analysis: objectivity, consistency with customer investment policy statements. Practical cases.
Relationship and duties to employers: conflicts of interests, priorities of transactions. Practical cases.
“Global Investments Performance Standards”: standard principles for International comparison of financial performances.

Tests
Tests, held during the course, will have the same multiple-choice format and duration of the exams, in order to prepare students for the examination procedures


MODALITÀ DI SVOLGIMENTO DELL'ESAME DEVELOPMENT OF THE EXAMINATION
Modalità di valutazione dell'apprendimento.

La modalità di svolgimento dell’esame prevede il superamento di un test con venti domande a scelta multipla.


Criteri di valutazione dell'apprendimento.

Nel corso dell'esame, svolto in forma scritta, gli studenti dovranno dimostrare di avere acquisto una solida conoscenza dei principi deontologici e degli standard internazionali, comprendendone la loro applicazione a casi pratici.


Criteri di misurazione dell'apprendimento.

Il voto verrà espresso in trentesimi. Lo studente supererà l'esame se otterrà almeno 18. È prevista l’assegnazione del massimo dei voti con lode (30 e lode).


Criteri di attribuzione del voto finale.

L’esame sarà superato se, come minimo, metà delle domande (10 su 20) otterranno una risposta corretta. I voti saranno assegnati proporzionalmente fino ad un massimo di 30 e lode nel caso di 20 risposte corrette.

The exam will consist on a test with twenty multiple-choice questions


Learning Evaluation Criteria.

During the exam, students must demonstrate their solid knowledge of ethical principles and International standards, understanding their application to practical cases.


Learning Measurement Criteria.

Marks will be given with a maximum of thirty/thirties. Students will pass the exam if they will obtain a minimum mark of 18/30. It will be possible to obtain the maximum mark, cum laude.


Final Mark Allocation Criteria.

To pass the exam, with the minimum mark of 18/30, students will need to answer 10 questions out of 19. From 10 to 19 correct answer, marks will be assigned proportionally. 20 correct answer will obtain 30/30 cum laude.
