Botanica sistematica e forestale; nozioni di Ecologia vegetale e Geobotanica
Systematic and forest Botany, notions of Plant ecology and Geobotany
The course includes theoretical lessons (4 ECTS) and field excursions (2 ECTS). The teaching material will be available on Moodle Platform.
The course allows students to acquire theoretical and practical knowledge on the analysis, monitoring and sustainable management of ecosystems on a vegetational basis in the context of environmental policies.
The main objective is the analysis and interpretation the diversity of the plant lanscape. Through theoretical and practical activities, the student acquires the basics to create a system of bioindicators in order to understand the processes that change the environmental balance and put biodiversity and the functionality of ecosystems at risk.
The knowledge and methods acquired through teaching will foster the ability to develop transdisciplinary studies with specialists belonging to different environmental sectors to respond, in a fully integrated context, to highly topical issues such as the recovery and management of biodiversity, climate change, fires, the invasion of alien species, sustainable development
I principali paesaggi vegetali dal litorale all’Appennino. Specie e comunità vegetali come bioindicatori.
1. Natural capital. The conservation of biodiversity as a pillar of community / national and regional policies. The landscape as a system of ecosystems, current situation and recent modifications of natural and semi-natural landscapes. The main plant landscapes from the coast to the Apennines. Dynamism of vegetation. Vegetational succession and vegetation series. Ecological-functional role of communities and plant species in vegetation dynamics. The alien species. Plant species and plant communities as bioindicators. The usefulness of the plant bioindicator system for environmental monitoring of ecosystems. (2 ETCS)
2. Presence, distribution, conservation status and monitoring of the habitats of the Habitats Directive (92 / 43CEE)
The main habitats of community interest from the coastal system to the Apennine system. Structure and function, typical species, pressures and threats. Monitoring techniques. Neglected habitats. Red list of species of community interest. Red List of Habitats (EUNIS) and Ecosystems (1 ETCS).
3. Application phase, case studies:
Monitoring and environmental recovery of some habitats with particular focus on forests and grasslands ones. Plant communities and climate change: mountains as hot spots. Fight against alien species. Environmental recovery following the passage of fires. Incidence assessment (3 ETCS: 1 ETCS theorical lessons and 2 ETCS Field excursions).
Colloquio orale.
Voto finale in trentesimi.
Oral examination.
For students with disabilities/invalids or specific learning disabilities (DSA), who have duly requested support to take the specific exam at the University's Disability/DSA Info Point, the exam methods will be adapted to the light than provided for by the University guidelines.
Knowledge on the subjects listed in the teaching program
The final vote is attributed in thirtieths.
Final Mark
The oral examination consists of three questions concerning the subjects
listed in the teaching program, each of ones will be quantified in the
range 0 - 10. The degree of 30 “cum laude” is attributed when the student
demonstrates complete mastery of the subject.
