Good knowledge on marine ecology, biology and zoology. SCUBA diving license is useful, but not mandatory.
Together with theoretical lectures, field work activities are planned in controlled environment (aquaria) and/or at sea (at least 1 CFU correspondent to 8 hours).
The lecturer will provide the teaching material (presentations and publications)
Knowledge on the most suitable strategies for restoring temperate bioconstructions and coral reef habitats.
Knowledge on the best restoration techniques to be applied in the field.
Knowledge on the criteria for the monitoring of the success of restoration actions.
Knowledge on implementation plans for the scale up of restoration actions.
The course aims primarily to provide strategies and practical skills for the restoration of bioconstructions, for the assessment of restoration success and benefits on key ecological attributes. This course will provide suitable restoration field protocols for the selected habitats/species.
Field activities contribute to stimulating practical skills, judgment and contribute to check the knowledge gained during the lecturers.

L’esame orale consiste in 3 domande.
The first round of the final examination consists of a multiple-choice test and open questions-response. The following rounds will be oral exams. The students must demonstrate the acquisition of the basic knowledge presented during the course; with regard to the practical part, the student will be asked to conceptually apply the methods learned in the field to specific case studies.
The students should analyze a scientific paper given by the lecturers and discuss it through a power point presentation.
The final test will allow to evaluate the acquisition of the basic knowledge and practice for the restauration of temperate and tropical bioconstructions.
The maximum final mark is 30/30. The written test includes 5 open questions that will receive a maximum score of 2 for a total of 10 points and 20 multiple choice questions that will account for 1 score each for a total of 20. The oral exam includes 3 questions.
The power point presentation made by the students will be evaluated and the score obtained will affect (33%) the final score.
The final score is given considering the level of knowledge acquired in both the theoretical and practical parts and tested with the final written test.
The power point presentation is mandatory.
