RISULTATI DI APPRENDIMENTO ATTESI LEARNING OUTCOMES
Conoscenze e comprensione.

Knowledge and Understanding.

The course will provide the basic concepts of Electrical Circuit Theory and Electrical Machines. In particular, the student will be asked to focus on the basic knowledge of electrical and magnetic circuits, with special attention to analytical methods under permanent sinusoidal and continuous conditions, circuit transformations, external circuit characterization, and three-phase systems. Moreover, the main features and basic working principle of static and rotating electrical machines, with specific reference to the power transformer and asynchronous/synchronous machines case studies.

Capacity to apply Knowledge and Understanding.

The students will be able to analyze the properties and functional features of electrical and magnetic circuits included in a mechanical system and will be able to identify the electrical circuits and the suitable electrical machine type for a simple mechanical engineering application.

Transversal Skills.

The studying activities in this course will allow the student to improve his/her abilities in the evaluation of the effectiveness, efficiency, and opportunity of a certain design choice from the point of view of electrical circuits and machines, and at the same time to better evaluate the degree of interdisciplinarity of engineering competences in modern mechanical systems.

MODALITÀ DI SVOLGIMENTO DELL'ESAME DEVELOPMENT OF THE EXAMINATION

Learning Evaluation Methods.

The evaluation process consists of an online quiz, a written test, and an optional oral test. The quiz consists of solving circuit analysis exercises and must be completed once within the academic year. To be eligible for the written test, the student must have passed the quiz. The written test consists of a discussion of one or more topics addressed in the course and the resolution of a circuit analysis exercise. The oral test is optional and consists of a discussion of one or more topics covered in the course.

Learning Evaluation Criteria.

The evaluation process is based on the assessment of the knowledge of the notions and concepts presented in the course and on the level of completeness and correctness of the circuit analysis, as well as on the ability of the student to apply in practice and with autonomy the notions provided by the course. In the eventual oral test, the student must demonstrate sufficient knowledge of the program topics. The evaluation is based on the assessment of the knowledge of the notions and concepts presented in the course and on the level of completeness and correctness of the circuit analysis, as well as on the ability of the student to apply in practice and with autonomy the notions provided by the course. In the eventual oral test, the student must demonstrate sufficient knowledge of the program topics.

Learning Measurement Criteria.

The final grade is in the range 0-30, with eventual honors. The minimum grade for passing the exam is 18/30.

Final Mark Allocation Criteria.

The online quiz is a preliminary test for access to the written test, therefore it does not contribute to the calculation of the final mark.

Each question of the written test is given a score in thirtieths. The mark of the test is given by the average of the scores of the individual questions. The test is considered passed if the score obtained in the circuit analysis exercise and the overall mark are not lower than 18/30.

The final mark, in thirtieths, is given by the average of the marks obtained in the written and oral tests (if sustained) rounded to the nearest integer. The exam is considered passed if the final grade is not less than 18/30. Honors will be given to students who have obtained the highest grade in all the tests and who have shown a higher level of thoroughness.
