RISULTATI DI APPRENDIMENTO ATTESI LEARNING OUTCOMES
Knowledge and Understanding.

The course focuses on the design of slopes, both natural and manmade, with particular reference to stability. Slopes have to be studied by interpreting the results of the monitoring and of the ground investigation and analyzed by using appropriate software codes. Practical work on real case studies will provide to the students the opportunity to apply their knowledge of soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering in an integrate manner.

Capacity to apply Knowledge and Understanding.

Students will be able to interpret the results of geotechnical investigations, select soil parameters (essentially soil strength), define a representative
geotechnical model of the slope, carry out slope analysis by using software codes according to professional practice

Transversal Skills.

The course aims at providing to students appropriate skills to solve geotechnical problems taking into account the influence on the slope stability of engineering works. It is a complex problem to be solved through the methods of geotechnical design, using abilities to interpret soil response by both laboratory and site experiments, taking into account construction aspects and a variety of technological solutions for stabilization.

MODALITÀ DI SVOLGIMENTO DELL'ESAME DEVELOPMENT OF THE EXAMINATION
Learning Evaluation Methods.

Oral esam. THe student shall answer to three main questions concerning the course topics.

Learning Evaluation Criteria.

To pass the exam, the student shall demonstrate through the answers given to have understood the
fundamentals of the course topics and to be able to manage proper solutions for the slope stability analyses and for
the selection of stabilization methods.

Learning Measurement Criteria.

The grades are on a scale of 30, with possible distinction mark (cum laude)

Final Mark Allocation Criteria.

Each of the three main questions will be evaluated on a scale of 30. The final grade will be the average of the three obtained evaluations.
The "laude" will be obtained by the student who proved to be particularly brilliant in the oral presentation and discussion of the topics.
