Gli studenti e le studentesse iscritti al primo anno possono effettuare un test di lingua organizzato dal Centro di Supporto per l'Apprendimento delle Lingue (CSAL), Il test si svolge all'inizio dell'anno accademico, durante la Settimana Zero e serve per valutare il grado di conoscenza dell'inglese. Gli studenti e le studentesse che ottengono un punteggio basso dovrebbero utilizzare il software di auto-apprendimento English Express - corso lingua base disponibile nella Mediateca CSAL - per raggiungere il livello di conoscenza minimo richiesto (CEFR A2+/B1) che consente di frequentare le esercitazioni di inglese tenute nel 2° semestre.
Students enrolled in the first year of the degree can take an English Language Placement Test, organized by the University Language Centre (CSAL). This test will be held at the start of the academic year during Orientation in September and it is useful for assessing the students’ current level of English. Any students who get a low score should follow an elementary level self- study course (English Express) using the software in the CSAL self-study centre in order to reach the minimum level (CEFR A2+/B1) needed to be able to follow the English language lessons which will be held in the second semester.
Le esercitazioni frontali organizzate dal CSAL forniranno competenze grammaticali e lessicali, d'ascolto, di lettura e delia lingua parlata e pronuncia ad un livello intermedio (B1).
Face to face classroom lessons organized by the CSAL; their aim is to improve the students’ English language skills regarding grammar and vocabulary, listening, speaking and pronunciation, bringing the students to an intermediate level of knowledge (B1).
Gli studenti e le studentesse apprenderanno gli aspetti grammaticali e lessicali necessari per capire il senso globale di una tipologia testuale varia e per cogliere i nodi informativi principali di testi scritti concernenti argomenti familiari e di natura generale.
Capacità di applicare conoscenze e comprensione.
Gli studenti e le studentesse dovranno essere in grado di capire il senso globale ed i particolari essenziali di messaggi orali e scritti, su argomenti vari e di poter esternare la loro comprensione di testi di lettura ed esercizi grammaticali.
Competenze trasversali.
Le esercitazioni che avranno luogo durante il corso consentiranno agli studenti e alle studentesse di migliorare non solo le loro competenze nelle quattro abilità linguistiche (lettura, ascolto, scrittura, parlato) ma anche le abilità logico-cognitive.
The students will learn the language skills that enable them to understand the gist of various types of written and listening texts and to recognize the main points in general English written texts.
Capacity to apply Knowledge and Understanding.
The students must be able to understand the general meaning and find specific information when listening to a variety of audio materials. They must also be able to express their understanding when faced with reading texts and grammatical exercises in English.
Transversal Skills.
The exercises that the students will carry out throughout the course will allow them not only to improve their competences in the four skills of language learning (reading, listening, writing, speaking), but also their cognitive and logical abilities.

Il grado di conoscenza acquisito dagli studenti viene verificato attraverso un test su PC.
Per gli di studenti e le studentesse con disabilità/invalidità o disturbo specifico di apprendimento (DSA), che abbiano fatto debita richiesta di supporto per affrontare lo specifico esame di profitto all’Info Point Disabilità/DSA dell’Ateneo. Le modalità di esame saranno adattate alla luce di quanto previsto dalle linee guida di Ateneo (https://www.univpm.it/Entra/Accoglienza_diversamente_abili).
Criteri di valutazione dell'apprendimento.
La prova scritta (test su PC) è composta da tre parti:
- La prima parte comprende 2 brani di lettura su argomenti di attualità con quesiti a scelta multipla o in alternativa vero/falso.
- La seconda parte comprende un dialogo unico esteso o un brano esteso tratto da programmi radiofonici, televisivi o da internet su questioni attuali o argomenti di interesse personale o professionale.
- La terza parte comprende 2 brani di attualità che prevedono l'inserimento di 10 parole mancanti ognuno a scelta fra quelle fornite.
Il tempo disponibile totale è di 45 minuti.
Criteri di misurazione dell'apprendimento.
Il voto finale è attribuito in trentesimi. L'esame si intende superato quando il voto è maggiore o uguale a 18. È prevista l'assegnazione del massimo dei voti con lode (30 e lode).
Criteri di attribuzione del voto finale.
Il voto finale verrà calcolato in base ai voti assegnati alle varie abilità.
The students’ knowledge will be tested via a computer-based test.

Learning Evaluation Criteria.
Assessment Criteria
The computer-based test has three parts.
The first section comprises 2 reading comprehension texts on current events with multiple choice or true/false questions.
The listening section is made up of one long dialogue on familiar topics related to family, work, leisure time or on current events with multiple choice or true/false questions.
The last section is made up of 2 cloze tests (10 gap-fill each).
The maximum set time for the test is 45 minutes.
Learning Measurement Criteria.
The final score is a result out of 30, with 18/30 being the minimum pass mark. The maximum score of 30/30 may be given with honours (“cum laude”).
Final Mark Allocation Criteria.
The final mark will be calculated by taking into consideration the marks of all the separate skills.
