Chimica e Fisica , Biologia, Anatomia, Istologia e Patologia generale.
The student must possess knowledge of Chemistry and Physics, Biology, Anatomy, Histology and General Pathology acquired through attendance to the aforementioned courses.
The Course satisfies the professional requirements of the Ministerial Decree 745 with regard to the activities to be carried out into professional laboratory and research related to biomedical and biotechnological analysis in histopathology
The aim of the course is to provide the student with the means to acquire theoretical and practical knowledge in Pathological Anatomy. To this end, the four modules will be integrated in providing the information needed to understand the main alterations induced in the organs and systems with regard to neoplastic, inflammatory and degenerative diseases at the macroscopic and microscopic level and the techniques apt to demonstrate these alterations.
At the end of the course, the students will have the knowledge necessary to understand and perform the traditional and new generation diagnostic procedures applied to the cells and tissues in Pathologic Anatomy.
The knowledge acquired will allow improving the student’s ability to analyze and synthesize information and solve problems related to the approach to the techniques applied to the diagnosis of diseases of different organs and systems.
The module is structured into lectures. Each topic is presented through a combination of concepts and histological images used as practical examples. It covers the following topics: breast pathology; pulmonary pathology; pathology of the female genital system with particular reference to the neoplastic pathology of the body of the uterus and ovary; melanocytic lesions of the skin; tumor staging.
Learning is assessed through a written exam. The written test consists of eight open-ended questions, 2 for each module, on topics covered in the program.
Each question is assigned a maximum value of 4 points. Values from zero to two are considered insufficient. To pass the test the student must obtain a minimum score of 18. If both questions related to a single module, obtain a value between zero and two (insufficient) the student is required to repeat the test regardless of the final score reached.
The score attributed to each written question derives from assessing the student's ability to: interpret the question by focusing the answer on what is specifically requested, select the information he/she considers relevant for the answer, express the information in a concise and complete manner.
The final score is the sum of the scores attributed to each question. The praise is obtained when a score above 30 is reached.
