PREREQUISITI PREREQUISITES

In order to present their Dissertation (Final Assessment) students must have already passed all the curricular exams and must have completed all the other activities indicated in their syllabus, in accordance with the Didactic Regulations for their chosen Course of Study.

MODALITÀ DI SVOLGIMENTO DEL CORSO DEVELOPMENT OF THE COURSE

Prova finale

Dissertation

RISULTATI DI APPRENDIMENTO ATTESI LEARNING OUTCOMES
Conoscenze e comprensione.

Knowledge and Understanding.

The Dissertation aims to make students deal autonomously with a topic in the field of Engineering, under the guidance of a Tutor. The students must develop a solution for the technical task that is assigned to them, research the state of the art regarding specific topics or carry out experiments. In doing so the students gain practical experience in the use of typical engineering methods, techniques and processes.

Capacity to apply Knowledge and Understanding.

The aim of the Dissertation is to give students the opportunity to apply the knowledge they have acquired during the three years of the course with the objective to resolve an engineering task. In this type of activity the students integrate and gain a more thorough understanding of the concepts, procedures and methods they have studied, using an inter-disciplinary approach.

Transversal Skills.

The result of this project is a written Dissertation, with relative graphs and tables. In this way the students develop the ability to be concise and clear so as to allow for correct technical and scientific communication in an inter-disciplinary environment.

PROGRAMMA PROGRAM

Depending on the subject chosen the student will be guided by a tutor while carrying out and drawing up the Dissertation. For example, activities include: analysis of the state of the art, definition of methodology for carrying out the task, collection and analysis of results, design of the project (where applicable).

MODALITÀ DI SVOLGIMENTO DELL'ESAME DEVELOPMENT OF THE EXAMINATION

Learning Evaluation Methods.

The students will be assessed on the basis of the Dissertation submitted.

Learning Evaluation Criteria.

The student’s preparation will be assessed on the basis of the quality and the completeness of the Dissertation and on the relevance of the topic with respect to the objectives of the Course of Study.

Learning Measurement Criteria.

The final overall mark is out of 110, with a minimum score of 66, with possible honours (“cum laude”).

Final Mark Allocation Criteria.

The final mark will take into consideration the student’s overall marks obtained during the Course of Study. The examination panel assigns the final mark by majority vote considering the student’s curriculum and the final Dissertation. The calculation of the curriculum is defined as the average mark obtained considering the marks for the single didactic activities, weighted according to the number of ETS credits assigned for each subject, and expressed out of 110. The examination panel, after examining the final Dissertation, can assign up to a maximum of 7 extra marks. Honours (“cum laude”) can be given by majority vote (2/3 of the examination panel members). The final Dissertation may be written in English. In this case the student must provide a detailed summary in Italian.
