The course will consist of frontal lessons and some elements of blended learning. It will focus on both receptive (reading and listening), and production (writing and speaking) skills. Group work and task-based activities will constitute a fundamental part of the course. At this level students will be expected to do a considerable amount of self-study using material recommended by the teacher as well as material to be found on e-learning platforms.

The main outcome is to reach a level where students can communicate effectively in English about a wide variety of topics even if they are unfamiliar. This outcome would be in line with the C1 level as expressed in the Common European Framework.
To improve knowledge and understanding students will work with authentic material both when reading and listening.
The course aims to equip students with the ability to use a wider and more sophisticated range of linguistic functions, speculating, hypothesizing, debating, presenting ideas and so on.
The skills acquired during the course aim to put students in the position to be able to demonstrate a C1 level when taking external exams, Cambridge, Oxford, Pearson, IELTS etc.

Examination: Written.
During the exam, students must demonstrate they have reached the competences and skills required at C1 level.
Exam marks are expressed in a mark out of 30. Students will pass the exam if they achieve minimum of 18/30.
The final score is determined based on the outcome of the written exam. Positive grades: from 18 to 30. Cum laude can be bestowed to outstanding performance.
